Harry was a friend of mine in the Hollywood Park neighborhood and later at Sutter Union. I can remember swimming with him and the others at the old Land Park Plunge. His bio indicates a life well lived. That was one of the great things about the 50 year reunion. I got to say hello to him. Condolences to his family, children, and friends. Harry was a fine friend in my youth and quite apparenly a good businessman and family man. He was a McClatchy man through and through, Rest in peace Harry.

I knew Harry since elementary school, we were good friends through high school and community college. At Sac City College, after some girls we knew talked me into being a male cheerleader (like the big 4 yr colleges, was the pitch), I talked Harry into joining in. I’m sure he agreed out of friendship and counter to his initial instincts, but Harry was always very nice and kind. After a long hiatus, we met up again, at Peter Compton's house in Florida a few years ago. It was so much fun. Peter and Ellie, Kathy and Harry, and Nancy and I had a fabulous time in Fl and reconnecting with Harry was a total pleasure. Then a short visit in Sacramento, then cancer. In those visits I was very struck by Harry's gentle nature and kind approach to life. I will miss this friend.

I feel fortunate that I had so many years in school with Harry. At the 50th reunion we laughed about a party that he attended when we were in junior high. I am also happy that I was able to meet Harry's wife. My prayers go out to your family during this tough time.
